In the second chapter, Marx and Engels explain the purpose of communism to the proletariats. There are some important postulates which are spelled out. In the first place, it is argued that the communists do not form a separate party as opposed to other working class parties. They do not necessarily have interests which are separate and apart from those of the proletariat as a whole. Moreover, they do not set up any sectarian principles of their own by which to mould and shape the proletarian movement.
